Warm Up
A session starts with a warm up, with some movement and stretching to prepare the muscles and joints for Karate.
Kihon (Basic techniques)
Some time is spent practicing individual punches, kicks, and blocks, and some combinations of techniques, before moving on to Kata and Kumite.
Kata (forms)
Kata is a pre-arranged sequence of moves to develop skill in longer sequences, Kata are also used to illustrate fighting and self-defense techniques (Bunkai). Some time is spent learning new Kata and practicing ones already learned.
Kumite (fighting skills)
Practice with a partner starts with simple pre-arranged attacks and defence, progressing to free-style for senior grades.
